Poland - I.part - Semianowka
There were bank holidays on tuesday and wednesday so I take monday off and had five days of holiday. I was thinking where to go and decide Poland where I was just two times for a couple of hours of shopping.
Semianowka is water reseerwoar which is close, just couple of kilometers to the Belorussian border. I found this place in the book by Gerard Gorman Where to watch birds in eastern Europe. Northern part of the reservoir is very shallow and full of birds. Best acces to visit the Semianowka is throw village of Cisowka on the northern part of reservoir. The biggest problem during my visit in Semianowka reservoir was weather. It was still 20 minutes of raining, than very strong wind and then 10 minutes of sun. And again the whole day. It was very furstrating to take photos in this weather. From ornithological point of view it is very interesting area. There were a lot of birds there. A lot of terns (whiskered, black, white-winged, common and little), great egrets, teals, mallards, grey herons, green sandpipers, grey sandpipers and much more. All the resérvoir is very big so it is very difficult to observe all the area. I recommend visiting this area to everybody who is interested about birdwatching.
As usual all of the photos were taken from my temporary waterhide.

Wood sandpiper was quite common around my waterhide.

Greenshank was very common around me too.

Little tern wsas one of the species which I didnt expect that it will be possible to photograph.

Photographing little terns was quite dificult at start. I used my experience with photographing of common terns in Czech republic as little terns had same behave as common terns. And it helped me to photograph them.

Little tern is smalles of european terns.

Little ringed plover.

Something just move behind my waterhide so I turn very carefully and there were teal there.

Vodouš bahenní v dešti.

Place where the photograph were taken in Semianowka water reservoir.

Thank you for your comments. Did you get my email regarding waterhide OK? And is it clear how to use it?

I found your site via birdguides and love reading about your trips and looking at your wonderful photos. Your photos show the subject their level, which I guess is achieved using your waterhide. I'd love to know a bit more about it, how you made it, use it, etc... Thanks

Awesome photos, I just love your low angle shots. I visit Brno again next week for a three week holiday and will be birding there. We will also visit the Slovakian Tatra mountains planning to stay near the Orava Dam, I also plan a few days birding near the lakes in Lednice. Are there any other birding sites you can recommend. I've been unable to find any managed wetlands that provide hides etc.
Thanks John
