Birding around Ceske Budejovice, Czech republic

I was photographing in southern part of Czech republic around city of Ceske Budejovice. This city is know also under the name Budweis , home of world known Budweis bier.
There are quite a lot of ponds around Budweis. I was photographing this time on the pond names Volesek which is about 10 kilometers western of Ceske Budejovice. It is one of the biggest ponds arpound Ceske Budejovice. Water on this pond was a little bit down so it was oportunity to take some photos of some birds. Most of the ponds around Budweis are on the high level of water during the whole year. It means that there are not many birds. If you would like to visit the area around Budweis try to find ponds with lower water level. The best ponds are usualy Dehtar (and important bird area), Vysatov which host a colony of common terns and ponds on the west part of Budweis named Domin,Cernis and Vrbenske pond. This pond has the only colony of spoonbills in Czech republic. With spoonbills there is also the only one regular colony of little egrets. There are breeding night herons also on these ponds. It is a nature reserve. How curious as the ponds are nearly in the city and spoonbill colony is on the small island just next to the big block of flats. The area around Ceske Budejovice is well known also for big population of greylag goose. It has also quite strong population of white-tailed eagle. Especialy on Dehtar pond it is not unusual to see 5 or 6 birds together.
I was photographin on Volesek pond as mentioned above. Photos were taken from my temporary waterhide. It was very funny to see little egrets trying to catch fish. They were running and trying to catch small fish. One of the little egrets was feeding on big dead carp. There were also some waders on the pond but not very much. I was hotographing for about 4 hours in Saturday afternoon. The next day I take my waterhide to some other pond in the area. There were a lot ducks especially garganeys , red-crested pochards, gadwalls etc.
